Lab Test & Procedure

Four Pillars of Quality: NSN Qumax adopted policy, provide immense importance to highest level of quality assurance to its customers. Following are the four main pillars of quality systems practiced by us:

Strict
control

Strict control on the quality of all input materials used in production through rigorous in-house or third-party testing.

Stringent
process

Stringent process control measures involving thorough inspection, good upkeep of equipment, monthly scale calibration of weighing devices, etc.

World-Renowned Quality Scheme

Adopting the world-renowned Quality Scheme for Ready-Mixed Concrete (CEMEX-1965) from U.K, for ensuring QA & QC. This involves continuous monitoring on all stages of production and supply i.e. order processing, purchase/control on input materials, concrete mix design, process control, sales, delivery and statistical quality control.

Continuous
monitoring

Continuous monitoring of the key properties of concrete in the fresh and hardened states, including their statistical analysis.

The Company’s production facilities are supplemented with a state-of-the-art central laboratory for testing of concrete and its ingredients. The laboratories are fully equipped with latest testing equipment conforming to the requirements of relevant codes of the Bureau of Indian Standards. And maintaining the organisation’s four pillars of quality. The routine tests done in the laboratories include the following:

  • Aggregate Gradation (once in a week)
  • Moisture Content (at least twice in a day)
  • Silt Content
  • Plastic Density
  • Compressive strength of concrete: at 28 days (7/56/90 - day testing optional, depending on customer requirement)

Why do we test at 7, 14 & 28 days?

Concrete is a macro content with Sand, Cement, & Coarse aggregate as its micro-ingredient (Mix Ratio) and gains its 100% strength over time at the hardened state.

Take a look at the below table.

Days after Casting Strength Gain
Day 1 16%
Day 3 40%
Day 7 65%
Day 14 90%
Day 28 99%

As you can see the concrete gains its strength rapidly til 7th & 14th Days. Then gradually increases from there. So we can’t predict the strength until the concrete comes to that stable state.
